From a Client The Impact of a Restoration

It had been decades since that box was stored away. When we moved, it moved with us, unopened from one attic to the next. But now, one look inside and I was transformed into a moment from over 70 years ago.

My memory of that long-ago moment is clear. My brother, Greg had gotten a new Kodak camera for his birthday and there was no stopping him that July afternoon from capturing every exciting thing happening in our backyard, at least until his roll of 35mm film ran out.

Mom was hanging laundry on a line that spanned the width of our backyard. I squinted my eyes against the glare of the afternoon sun and guarded the newly picked tomatoes stored next to me in my wagon.
Life was good.

I’m grateful for Greg’s photographic exuberance on that day some 70 years ago, but this black-and-white photo doesn’t do that memory justice.
I remember a colorful world, where the grass was green and tomatoes were red.
And I’d like my children and grandchildren to see it the way I remember it, too.
