Create a High Impact Old Photograph Restoration
Did you know that a restored image could be enlarged, a digital mat added, even some text to further explain the image. Let’s take a look at this high impact old photograph restoration project.
This image, as received, was a 5×7 original photograph. The image quality was quite good, but mold, stains, and scratches had ruined the photo.
Close inspection confirmed that a restoration would eliminate the damages, and allow for reprinting at a much larger 8×10 size, suitable for mounting and framing on the wall.
The client wanted unsightly wires and poles removed from the background, and a digital mat added, with information about her loved one, the place where the image was taken, and the year.
To create a softer look for the restored black and white, a light sepia tone was added.
The 8×10 picture was matted out to a 10×12 size with mat, then framed.
The special Epson inks and papers, with UV protection, will assure image quality for at least 75 years.
The digital restoration image itself can be reused over and over for photo albums, Facebook, and quick “insty prints”.
